Stay or Leave?
The year is 1844. People are talking about President Polk's words, "Manifest Destiny." We learned today that Manifest Destiny was the belief that Americans were destined to conquer the continent Ocean to Ocean. Will you be a pioneer and travel the Oregon Trail for 6 months to help America grow? Or, will you choose to stay put. What are your reasons for leaving on the trail or staying in your current home? Use your knowledge of why people stayed and why people headed West to help guide your decision.
I wold go or stay I would stay because of all the dangers, miss other family and cold die I would go because if i stayed Someone might buy my house and I wold run out of money and there is new land in Oregon
ReplyDeleteIf my family decided to go west I would be happy because I would be able to go on an adventure, breath fresh air, have a new life, meet new people, my family would have rich soil to grow food on,my family would have more land, the pice of land that my family owned would be less expensive.

Some of the reasons I may not want to go is because I did not want to have to leave relatives who stayed be hind, my family would take a risk of being by the native americans, going on the long and dangerous journey.
Sincerely, TALIA
I would go if I had no children because if I got sick I would know what to do because my parents would of done it on me when I was younger and it would be an adventure and I could write about it in Oregon as an author. But I wouldn't want to go because I would have to leave family and my favorite stuff behind.

If my family agreed to go west I would be happy and sad. I am going to be happy because the journey is going to be exciting to explore the new areas. We will get free land for playing on and making a house to live in. I could also make a small play house for me and my friends. Our family would have good soil for planting crops. And we would have a new chance to survive.
ReplyDeleteI would also be sad because I would have to leave some of my belongings because we wouldn't have enough room for the essentials I would also be sad because I would leave relitives behind and not see them ever again because they couldn't come or wanted to stay.

Some reasons that I wouldn't want to go is because my family could be near the Native Amaricans for the whole journy and the journy would be very long and dangeros. I also mght not be abele to walk the whole way.
I would choose to go west here are my reasons to go...
ReplyDelete- You could make the USA bigger
- You could get free land
- You could become rich from the gold rush
- If you wanted to forget all about your life there you could travel to Oregon to start a new one
Here are the reasons I would not want to make the trip.....
- It is very dangerous
- You couldn't bring all of your stuff
- You would probably have to walk all day
Those are the reasons I would travel west and wouldn't travel west!
I would go west for these reasons
ReplyDelete*you would get free or cheap land.
* you could have good soil for plants
*a better life for you and your family
these are the reasons I would not go
*I would have to leave all my things
*it would be really dangerous
*we would have to leave family members
I would take a risk to go to Oregon because of these reasons:
ReplyDeleteFirstly, sickness. There is no fresh air in the east of what is now eastern U.S.A. Secondly, free and cheap land. In Oregon, there was some free and cheap land. Whoever got to Oregon first would get their own land. Thirdly, I wouldn't like to be the first to get to Oregon. In other words, I would be very prepared for the trail unlike some people, such as the unfortunate Donner Party.
P.S( The Donner Party was unfortunate because they got lost and could not find their way to their destination before winter came.)
I would leave because land is very cheap. And because of Manifest Destiny. And because it is a chance to start over.
ReplyDeleteThese are the reasons I would take the Oregon Trail:
ReplyDelete*Free and cheap land
*Less sickness
*More opportunities
*Open farming land
These are the reasons I wouldn't:
*Dangerous
*Leaving some family behind
*Leaving some belongings behind
So I would probably go on the Oregon Trail
Here's why I would take the risk:
ReplyDelete*Good Land
*Fresh Mountain Air
*Free Land
This is why I wouldn't
*Indians
*Not a lot of food
*Dirty Water
