A Long Trip

This week in library, we finished reading Roughing it On the Oregon Trail by Diane Stanley. We learned that the pioneers travelled 2,000 miles from Independence, Missouri to Oregon Country. The trip was slow-going and took 6 months by wagon! Think about the longest trip you have been on. How did you get to your destination (bike, car, plane)? What did you do for entertainment? How did you feel when you arrived?

  1. The longest trip I have been away from home is in the summer I go to Maine for 7 weeks for camp it is a long time away from home. At first I get on a plane with no parents but I go with my 2 sisters,my cousin and one of my family friends. We fly from Houston,Texas all the way to Boston the get on a bus ride to Maine. My internment was coloring, talking, listening to music, crying, or playing a game on my I Pod. When I arrive at camp I am ,exited, happy, nervous, sad and I miss my parents a lot. Eventually i get use to being at camp and it feels better to be at camp after all.

But after all I really want to thank my mom and dad for letting me be able to go to a summer camp and to travel such far from home and meet new and different kinds of friends.once again thank you so much mommy and daddy.

  2. The longest trip I ever took was coming home from my grandpa's house in Oregon last summer. There was a big plane crash in San Francisco so my flight was delayed for a long time and then it was cancelled! So we rented the very last rental car and drove for five hours to another city Then we spent the night in a hotel and then our family split up and took different flights to get home. Luckily I had my Itouch with me. I was so happy to finally make it home! And tired too! I can't imagine a six month trip or journey

  4. I haven't really gone on any long trips but my longest trip was probably the plane ride to California.(that's only around 3 or 4 hours.) It didn't seem very long though. I just read some books and things like that. When I arrived I felt like I had entered a whole different world! The airport was different and everything else. But I personally think that California is the most hot place that was ever created! I think it really hasn't gotten to experience below 60 recently. We set our things down at the hotel and then I felt super exited because after that we got to see my baby cousin at the park with my baby brother!
    Hope you enjoyed my post,
    Abby

  5. The trip that took me longest was the trip from Houston to China. The plane ride is 14 hours long and there are 2 plane rides too!!! We stayed there for 3 weeks. It is not only the longest trip I have been on, it is also the farthest from Houston. My sister and I would go to a "park" where you can jog and where you can climb these cow statues! There were also little kid-like exercising machine that were fun to ride. After I get to China I feel very weary after those long plane rides, but happy to finally be in China!!!!!!

  12. The longest amount of time it took me to get to a destination is two days. My family does that almost every summer in a car going to Gerton, North Carolina! I hate it! It's torture having to sit in a car all day, but, imagine doing it for 180 days with no car, just walking!!! I, personally would hate to go on the Oregon trail for that reason but, I would also like to travel there. My entertainment in the car part was my book, my sister, my brother, another book, and my iPad. I feel bad for all those pioneers with barely anything that we absolutely like a lot like electronics and all of that stuff. Another thing that kept me occupied was my dvd player. Once we finally get there I'm always so relieved because it was totally worth it!
    Thanks for reading
