Our class read aloud is The Tale of Desperaux by Kate DiCamillo. We have been working to read intensely: make movies in our mind as we read, feel empathy for characters, think and react. What are your thoughts about the book and the characters we have met so far? Please share a few sentences about your thinking (learning, wonders, connections, wows etc).

I think the tale of desperaux is a really good book.it has a lot of action and adventure. also like it because it has a lot of dialogue.I would by far rate it one of my top ten favorite books that i've ever read.
ReplyDeleteI think that the tale of Desperaux is a good book because it has action and it is funny. I think that Rascuro is going to meet Desperaux because they both like light because Desperaux was born with light on his head and eyes open and Rascuro is different because all the other rats do not like light and Rascuro loves light. And wants to get out of the dungeon.
ReplyDeleteI love the Tale of Desperaux! It's the kind of book that is sad, sweet, and funny at the same time! It was so sad to think about the prisoner's daughter, and how he traded her for a piece of red cloth, cigarettes, and something else. If I was that little girl, I would be crying really hard too. I would jump of the vehicle and run back! I think that Desperaux and Roscuro will meet since they both love the light. I predict they will become friends too. If I was Roscuro, when one of the men open up the door to take a prisoner into the dungeon, I would escape out the door. I can't wait to read on to find out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI like The Tale of Desperaux so far. I think my favorite character is Gregory because he is mysterious like we don't know if he is a ghost, human, or creature. I think the book has a great lead and a great subject. I really cant wait until tomorrow! BYE!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Tale of Desperaux is a good book so far. I think Roscuro and Desperaux will meet because they both like light. I wonder if the history that the king has with them is related to Roscuro. I can not believe that the man traded his daughter for cigarettes and a red cloth.

DeleteI felt empathetic for the parents at the beginning of the book because they had a lot of babies but only one survived! I thought Despereaux was brave when he got thrown into the dungeon because he was fearless while facing the rat.
ReplyDeleteI was shocked when I found out desperauxes own brother was escorting him to the dungen. But there are sweet parts to, like the part when desperaux risked his life just so he could be loyal to pea and so he could act like the brave knight in his book. there are almost magical parts like when roscuro and desperaux both got shined on by light when they were young. I love the book and I would recommend it to anyone
ReplyDeleteI like The Tale of Desperaux so far. I think Roscuro was part of the dark history that king Philips talked about. Then he gets kicked back into the dungeon. Then he will turn evil and meat Desperaux. I think Gregory might not be a ghost 👻.
ReplyDeleteI love the Tale of Desperaux so far! Its full of adventure, cool characters like... Desperaux mom who is so funny! Because she is so dramatic and names her kid Desperaux poor Desperaux they thought he was going to die so they named him Desperaux witch means despair. I was surprised when the class found that there was a rat like Desperaux named Roscuro! I wonder if Roscuro was born in the light? I hope to find out how Roscuro and Desperaux find each other in the story!

DeleteHey guys. We have been reading The Tale of Despereaux. It is amazing so fare. I think Roscuro is not helpful. He's like saying no you can't go up stares. If I were his friend I would go away. This is crazy HIS Own Brother TOOK HIM TO JAIL! Desperaux is smart he risked his life for Princess Pea. I mean wow talk about brave. I feel so so so bad for the prisoner's daughter,he traded her for a piece of red cloth, cigarettes and one more thing. I forgot the last one.I love the Tale of Despereaux

What I think about the tail of desperoux is. That they are both very bold by sticking with what they have done. Like desperoux didn't say sorry for talking to the human and stuck with it because he had true love and Rascuro went upstairs. I think that when Rascuro gos upstairs is going to be the incident with the queen. They are similar because they both like princess pea they also both like light and they are both a little different.And that is what I think about it
ReplyDeleteI think desperaux and Roscuro are sort of the same. Roscuro did something he wasn't supposed to and so did desperaux. I am surprised Furlough Sent his own brother to the mouse council!

DeleteI think if the queen is dead, because it kind of seems like she's dead in some parts but in other parts it seems like she's alive? I also wonder why Gregory narrarates himself? I think Ciroscuro is kind of sweet because every one is telling him to be a rat and stay in the dungeon and torture people when he wants to go upstairs and see the light.
ReplyDeleteIn the tale of Desperaux I think that Roscuro and Desperaux have some things in common. One of them is that they both like Princess Pea and their both very brave! Roscuro is brave because he went in the light. Desperaux is brave because he had a chance to regret going to princess Pea but he didn't. I still don't really know Roscuro's character trait yet, but I definitely know what Despuraux's character trait is. It is bravery, Kindness, risk taking and much much more. Bottom line Desperaux is defiantly one o my favorite book's.😊

ReplyDeleteSo far The Tail of Despereaux is very exiting! One of my wonders is are the rats and the mice ever going to meet and make friends? Will Gregory ever see the light again?So many questions are popping into my head.Kate DiCamillo is a very good writer and has wonderful characters and sensory details in her books. I can not wait to see what comes next in The Tail of Despereaux!

ReplyDeleteThe tale of Despereaux is a great book!! I really like how Kate Dicamillo wrote the story. Some of the traits that Despereaux has are bravery, risk taker, smart and kind. The Tale of Desereaux is kind of like harry potter because theres a movie for each boook. One of my favorite parts was when Despereaux heard the music and he followed it. I really like the action dialogue and much more!! Rosuro is really brave because he went in the light. Despereaux is probably one of my favorite books we have read a loud!!😝😂
