Immigration and Naturalization Ceremony

Today we were privileged to be in the audience as 1,714 people took the oath to become American citizens! You then had the unique opportunity to interview the newest Americans. Please write a reflection about your experience today.  Think about the information you have studied and what you have learned about the history of immigration and the process of becoming a citizen. How did it feel to witness so many becoming fellow Americans? What will you take away from this experience and hope to remember? Please write a minimum of 5 sentences. Be specific and thoughtful.

  2. It was a big honor to see 1,714 people become new citizens of the United States. I had a lot of fun interviewing all kinds of people. For example, one person was from Nigeria and another one was from Honduras. I learned that there are over 100 different places where people immigrate from. I loved meeting all these different people.

  3. I think the ceremony was very interesting. Because these people came from all different parts of the world. For example I interviewed a man named George and he was from the philippines. I think these people worked very hard to be a citizen of the US. I felt very lucky to watch the ceremony today.

  6. I love the Naturalization of immigration ceremony. It was so cool. l I thought in my head that if I was one of those people I would be very anxious. Something else I thought in my head was oh wow I cannot believe there are 1714 people immigrating from other countries. I thought to myself that's a lot of people! I am thankful for getting to go there because not a lot of people get to do this.

  7. I think we are very lucky to be able to goto a naturalization. It was very cool to me all the people because we got to learn about what country they came from and I think it's very interesting to learn about what countries they came from and how long they had been in the United States. I liked when the judge ask everyone to stand up and do the oath and she asked if anyone wanted to and if anyone was going to do it in a different language or a different way and nobody raise their hand. I think that that is very respectful. I can't believe we Watch people become citizens. Just think we just saw people become citizens of the United States and our countries big and they're very lucky and special to be able to come and be citizens of the United States.

  10. I loved the the Naturalization of immigration ceremony. Right when I walked in the room I was blown away by how many people were in the room. I did know that 1,714 people were going to become a new american citizen that day. every 1,714 people took a oath. After that, Isabel, Turner, Abby and Alex leaded the pledge. After the ceremony was over we interviewed some of the people becoming American citizen. it was really cool and I hope we can do it again some time.

  18. I was surprised when I heard that 1,714 people was a smaller amount of people becoming citezens than usual. The first person me and Bennett interviewed said he came to America because of the hamburgers. It was cool to see where a lot of people came from and why they came. At first I thought they were going to do it one by one . I felt so happy to be able to go to a naturalization ceromony because I know not every one gets to go to a thing like that.

  19. I was amazed because there 1,714 people that came americans! One of the reasons I thought there so impressive of how many people there were is because I thought one person would come up at a time.I thought it would be more organized. I also noticed that most of the people had siblings with them in line. And I also noticed that most were exited on the inside and didn't,t show it on the outside.
