The One and Only Ivan
Ivan the Silverback has been in his domain separated from his kind for years. He has made friends with Bob, Stella, Julia and precious baby elephant Ruby.Please share your thoughts on this wonderful book so far. Which character is your favorite? Why? Can you think of any memorable lines or themes so far?
I think that the one and only ivan is a sad because we just read about when ivan got taken away from his family. But sometimes its happy because ivan talks about the jungle and it is also is funny when bob lays down on ivan's belly

DeleteI think that Ivan is sad and happy the reason I think Ivan is sad because Stella just got killed, and he remembering that all the fun he had with her sister but he got taken away from his sister. The reason I think Ivan is happy is that Ruby came and that Ivan has Ruby with him.

Caricapture is an interesting word Jack, also, "Mud" is an interesting name for Ivan.
DeleteI think The One And Only Ivan is a sad and happy story. My favorite character is Ivan. Ivan is my favorite character because he is funny because he broke so many things!! Bob is a funny name for a dog. I feel bad for Ivan because he got taken away from his family.
ReplyDeleteIvan is sometimes funny but mostly he loves panting. And that's a cennection Ivan and I have thats one of my favorite parts of the book. My other favorite part of the book is how funny the baby elephant is. Thats all.

DeleteI like Bob because he is funny and Ivan likes painting just like me. I feel bad for Ruby because Stella passed away and Stella was like a family member for Ruby because Stella was the one who got Ruby out of a crate and she told stories to Ruby and Ruby called Stella Aunt Stella and I feel sorry for Stella because she was thrown into the garbage when she died. I mean, Come on! Stella doesn't deserve that! She deserves much better. I don't want to be Ivan. I would cry if my sister died with me in a crate and I would have to let go of everything I loved! My Favorite character is Ruby because she is cute and awesome!

DeleteMy favorite character in "The One and Only Ivan" is... {drum-roll please} the one and only Ivan of course! It's is VERY sad, of course, but Ruby is very cute. I think the themes so far are: trying to get out and stay ing out of trouble. : }

DeleteMy fav character is Ruby well now its Ruby. I used to <3 Stella before she died. I don't think it was fair that when Stella died they got rid of her by throwing her into a dumpster. :( I can't wait to come back to school soon! I have been wearing P.J.s for 26 hours because I don't like to sleep in clothes. I hope to see you guys tomorrow!

DeleteI like BOB because he likes to eat and sleep and I like that stuff too. He's really funny and sometimes he is serious. And I like dogs too. And I also like the saying "dogs are man's best friend." And I like how he sleeps on Ivan's belly.

DeleteHi its Kate and The One and Only Ivan has brought lots and lots different things to my mind sad thoughts, questions, but this is a sad story they just got rid of Stella and Ivan sure is a artist. My favorite carhcter is Ruby she is full of questions, brightness and fun and adventure well I now some things but I will not tell you

Its Chloe, and I think about "The One And Only Ivan" a lot. I feel like Ivan has a lot of emotions: sad, lonely, and mad. I think I know how he feels. I mean, if I was locked up in a jail, I would scream. And I loved hearing about him sleeping, and eating. And I love how he drew a beetle so artistic, and I like it! I think Bob is a cool dog because he eats bugs and you don't hear that every day. I like it that the story is both sad and happy at the same time. I like books that are like that. And Julia is a real artist. And my favorite: Ruby, she talks a lot and is a sweet, fun elephant to play with. She is nice and kind and wants people to talk to her a lot and I am like Ruby.

I think that Ivan is sad and happy. Sad because he is in captivity and Stella and his sister died. Happy because Julia,Bob and Ruby are close by and good friends with Ivan and Julia when she draws in front of his domain she gives Ivan a peace of paper and a crayon to draw with. My favorite character is Ruby or Julia. Julia because she is a real artist. Ruby because she is cute,happy and loves to talk to people.

ReplyDeleteStella in the book is gone. And sometimes I feel that Ivan is sad, happy, and normal.
And I like Bob too.
ReplyDeleteI think that The one and only Ivan is a great book! About something that really happened. It made the reader feel like Ivan when you are reading. People where being so mean to the animals. And the reader felt like Ruby when Ivan was telling the story. I like Ivan because he is brave but he just does not know it yet. He was brave when he promised Stella that he would protect Ruby and prevent her from living the same life that Stella had lived.
