  1. I visited Condoleeza Rice, Sandra Day O'Connor, Bessie Coleman and Charles Drew. I learned that Charles Drew helped create blood banks that saved many lives during WWII and continue to save many lives today. Before Charles Drew, donated blood could only be stored for one week. Charles Drew was African-American. He persevered and upheld the belief that blood donations should not be segregated based on race even when it cost him his job.

  9. Today I listened to some very interesting people, like Susan B. Anthony, Jane Goodall, Irving berlin, Juliette Gordon and Rachel Carson. My favorite was Juliette Gordon. She was born on October 31, 1860 in Savannah, Georgia . The Civil War broke out when she was 4.Her hometown [ Savannah ] was captured so she had to move out of the city. Juliette married William Low in 1886. But soon they divorced. When she met Robert Powell in England she thought that girls wanted to be a part of boy scouts too.Although Juliette never had children she wanted girls to something like boy scouts. So in 1911 she created a troop in scotland called Girl Guides. Juliette died of breast Cancer in 1927. But her tradition still lives on.
