Winter Break and Holiday Traditions

It's so exciting! Winter break is near! What are your plans? What are you looking forward to most? Are you traveling or staying in Houston? If you celebrate Christmas, what are some of your family's traditions you look forward to every year? If you celebrated Hanukkah, what was your favorite moment?

  1. My family is staying in Houston this year until New Year's Eve. We plan to bring in the New Year in Dallas with good friends.
My family celebrates Hanukkah and Christmas. Growing up, I celebrated Christmas by traveling to Dallas with my Mom, Dad and brother to visit my grandmother and lots of Aunts and cousins. Christmas Eve was always my favorite because we went to Church and sang, there were always lots of candles and afterwards, we were all together eating lots of good food and eagerly waiting for Christmas morning! This year, Aliya loved lighting the Hanukkah menorah with us. My favorite moment was seeing her get a play dump truck from her grandparents. She loves trucks! She also loves balls and is trying to take the ornaments off of our Christmas tree because she thinks they are balls! I'm looking forward to all the time with family over the break.

  2. My family does a lot of things for Christmas Break. My aunt comes in town to celebrate Christmas with us. One thing that is fun about that is we decorate Ginger Bread houses with her and my friend Sarah Grace. Every Christmas we go to our Grandparent's house and have Christmas Dinner and open some presents. We normally don't go anywhere by plane during Christmas Break. One thing we do for decoration is bring out our Elf on the Shelf. Right now, it's hanging on our chandelier tucking it's knees like it's about to do a tuck jump. I love Christmas because we get to give things to each other and learn to love our family's.
    Sincerely,
    Abby

For Christmas, my family go's to my dad's parents house on
Christmas Eve and celebrate with my dad’s brother
and his family and sometimes other relatives. We
always open presents and look in our stockings
before dinner. On Christmas day we go to my mom’s
parents house with her 2 brothers and there families
and sometimes other relatives. We open presents
    before lunch at there house.
Here are some differences between them
Dad’s side Mom’s side we have dinner we have lunch
we have stockings & presents we just have presents
we have less people we have more people
    Same
    we have lots of fun
    we are happy
we have lots of little people to play with
    we share love and joy

  5. I am so excited for Christmas. My family is going to travel to Disney world and Universal Studios! I am excited about going to Disney world because we are going to the park Epcot! I am even more excited about going to Universal Studios because my family gets to go to Harry Potter world! Every year, my family decorates for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. We decorate the Christmas tree with ornaments and put up little figures of the Nutcracker and the king mouse on a table. We even decorate a small Christmas tree and put it upstairs in my room. Christmas is going to be very fun!!!!!!!!

  8. I love winter because sometimes icicles hang from the fountan in my front yard and I love breaking them off and feeling the ice cold icicle because I am not used to the cold feeling. Also, my grandpa is coming from Oregon and I can't wait to play chess and other stuff with him.

We have a big dinner with my cousins on Christmas eve and then everyone opens one present. We make cookies for Santa and leave carrots for the reindeer. Also, there are lots of presents and my stocking on Christmas morning. Sometimes my dad gets chocolate coal in his stocking! Maybe my sister will too!

  10. My family stays home at Christmas. We get together with family at Thanksgiving a July Fourth. One of our traditions is to open 1 gift on Christmas Eve. We always have our German friend Ms.Evelyn over for dinner. Sometimes she brings her sister and niece when they are visiting from Germany. I sometimes hear Santa's sleigh bells outside my bedroom window. We stay in our pajamas and look at lights at night.

How we wake up is either my brother or I wake up first than wake up Connor or I and then wake up my mom and dad. And then go into the living room and see our presents.

  12. This year my family is going to Ohio to celebrate Christmas. It is going to be very cold. This whole week it has been snowing over 8 inches. My uncle Bill wants Benjamin and me to shovel the snow out of the drive way. I want to have a snowball fight. Our family tradition is celebrated on Christmas Eve. We go to mass. We have Wigilia (pronounced valeah) for dinner (-we eat fish). This year we have invited friends to go to mass with us. I'm really looking forward to going to Ohio.
