Panda Path - Reflection

Today, we visited the Panda Path pre-k students at the Spring Branch Family Development Center. We brought books to read and donate. Please describe your experience with your Panda Path pre-k buddies. You may write about hat you enjoyed and what was challenging. Did you learn anything about your buddy? Would you like to return? Please write in complete sentences.

  2. I thought it was very fun. I had only two buddies but I liked them both very much. I read 3 out of six books that I brought. I understood them pretty well but it was fun trying to understand other things that they said. I thank Mrs. Cavanaugh for helping us be able to go on this Wonderful trip.

    Sincerely,
    Abby

  4. I had some trouble communicating with my 1st buddy, but I think she I think she still enjoyed the books. My 2nd 2 buddies would still not talk but,I would ask the where something was and they would try to find it and if they did they would point to it.
I think I enjoyed teaching and learning at the same time.
I learned that my 1st buddy was pretty shy but would still have a smile on her face.
I learned that my 2nd 2 buddies were shy but would still point to objects.
I would love to return to Panda Path because it is a place
where you can give back to others.

  6. I had a great time reading to those kids. The first time the kids came in I got a shy one and a not shy one. The second time the kids came in I got a boy but I was just as glad. When the kids came in I could tell they were a little shy but when they left they were as happy as can be. Over all I loved helping the kids and it made me feel good!

  8. I loved the kids at Panda Path!! My first one was very shy and my second one was nice and mostly speaker Spanish. Both of my buddies picked my favorite books from when I was a little kid. Just like Harper, it made me feel good to give and be with the 4 year olds! It was definitely my favorite field trip I've ever had at Kinkaid!!!

  9. I really liked Panda Path. My first buddy was nice but shy. He mostly spoke English which was good for me because I would not like to make a big mistake in front of 4 year olds. It really warmed my hart to see the smile on buddy's face when he got the Spider Man Book. I definitely would want to come back!

  10. I liked the way this program helps kids. I also like the way the program has parties. My first book-buddies were very shy but nice. One of them was named Emily, the other one was Sophie. My third buddy didn't speak English to me at all. She seemed to be distracted. I think that it would be easier to speak a little Spanish and a little English so the buddies could sort of understand what you are saying.

  11. I really liked our visit to Panda Path because I really liked meeting Spanish-speaking kids. I think I learned from them and they learned from me. I read The Three Little Pigs and Caterpillers Grow Up To Be a Butterfly and a few other books. I tried to speak my best in Spanish, and they could understand the book a little bit in English and from the pictures. The kids were really quiet but nice. Two of the girls talked so quietly I could barely hear them. I would like to go back there some time.

  12. I really liked the field trip to Panda Path because I really felt good reading to spanish kids and giving them my books. I think my buddies understood me we didn't really talk because I was reading. All I asked was "What's you're name?". I couldn't really understand what their names were because they were in spanish, they whispered it and they said it really quickly. I would like to go back someday.

  14. I am so proud of you all! The children's eyes lit up when they saw all of the books you had to share with them and when they saw your smiling faces. I'm enjoying reading your responses. It truly is such a great feeling to give and make others happy! Thank you for your generosity and kindness today. - Mrs. Kottler

  16. I loved reading to the Panda Path students. My first buddy was Hispanic and he spoke mainly Spanish. I read to that buddy in English and asked him a whole bunch of questions in Spanish. He answered all the things that I asked him in Spanish and I thought that he felt comfortable for me to speek to him in Spanish. My second buddy spoke both Spanish and English I read to him in English. I had a hard time getting his attintion. And that for me was a challenge. He liked bunny books. I want to return some other day because I really liked taking time out of my day to read to Pre-kers

  17. I had two buddies, a boy and a girl. The boy didn't talk that much and I could hardly hear his name when he said it. The girl told me her name was Ariana and she liked Dr. Seuss a lot. It made me feel good going to Panda Path to read to Pre-Kers and donating the books.
