Today we viewed a short video about the Oregon Trail. What is a fact that impressed you or stood out to you? What are at least two wonders you would like to investigate further? Please read each other's comments and try not to repeat posts.
A fact that stood out was that they had to bring only the essentials in their wagon. Here are to questions that I want to know more on 1 What if the pioneers had a too big of a load? 2 oxen fast did the oxen go?
I thought it was weird that they only got 40 wagons! I wondered how the babies traveled with them and what happened to the things they left behind? Abby
I learned that they traveled with bare feet and that they expected the children to act like adults and not run away. I am wondering what they ate? And what happens to stuff that they don't take with them? I would not like to go back in time and visit them because it would be too dangerous.
I learned that Oxen, Horses, and Mules pulled the wagons and that they weren't supposed to bring a lot of stuff on their journey. My wonders are what happens if you run out of food? And also, what would the people do with all the dead bodies? I have more questions and facts but I thinks that's enough.
I learned that the reason "pioneers'' moved in the first place was because they were very crowded. They moved into Louisiana territory because president Thomas Jefferson had bought the land. Some pioneers moved because they wanted to find adventure. Others went to seek their fortune. It took 5 to 6 months to get to the pioneers destination. What states today used to be part of the Louisiana Territory? That is my wonder. I can't wait to learn more!!!!!
I learned that the pioneers began moving in the 1840's and ending in the 1860's.They crossed over 2,000 miles jest to get there.More than half of 1,000,000 tried to make it but most died.I wondering what did they sleep on and how many people died? Harper
I learned that the pioneers traveled for religious freedom. It took 5 to 6 months to get from where they started to Oregon. I wonder the French gave America the Louisiana Territory, and how much money was it?
I learned the 1/2 million pioneers traveled west. My first question is How accurate were their maps? My next question was About how many people were in each wagon?
A question that I think is interesting is that kids were expected to act lic adults and that kids had many chores, thousands died on the trip west. Indians did not like the way wight people acted for example the settlers killed for a sport and indians did not like that at all. Now for my two question what did they eat on there journey to the west and how many people went to Utah and California instead of going on the path to the west.
I learned that some ways to travel on the pioneer trip was to walk, drive by wagon, or by riding a horse . some of my wonders are what did they do if the kids got bored. and what if somebody broke a bone or something? and I am also so exited to do pioneers this semesters. !!!!!:)
The most interesting fact I learned is that the Pioneers broke there agreements that they made with the Natives. My two wonders are, How much did the Louisiana purchase cost? How many people walked along the Oregon Trail?
One of the facts that i learned is that they would cross over 2,000 miles of unowned land. and that there were some Rattlesnakes that were 12 feet long. Some of my questions were what happens if your wagon breaks and what happens to the stuff they don't take?
Some of the facts I learned were that kids had to act like adults. And that a lot of people died. My questions were what happens of your horse die and how did they get food when they ran out.
I learned that there were captins of the wagons.I also learned that wagons go 2 miles an hour. I want to learn what the pioneers ate and what they wore.

ReplyDeleteMax, yes, life in the 1840s was definitely different than life today! Deciding to leave for Oregon Territory was a big decision and often a risky one.
