We learned so much on our two field trips to the Museum of Fine Arts! We studied different styles of painting like impressionism, fauvism, pointilism and portraits. Some of us learned about pre-Columbian art and sculpture. One group saw art made by the Hopi Indians! What is one interesting painting, vessel or sculpture you learned about? What was your favorite art that you created at the Glassell School? Why?

  1. My favorite piece of art that I made at the Glassell School was the fish that I made out of clay. I learned that you have to make clay things hollow or they will crack. I liked the sculptures in the pre-Columbian art exhibit. The sculptures were made out of gold and clay.

  2. I liked the brown duck ceramic, because there was way more stuff behind the story than I knew about. The thing I liked most that I made at the Glassell School was probably my clay ceramic because it was smooth and probably better than the painting I did.

  3. My favorite part of the museum was when we got to make paintings and do clay because after my group did the tour with Ms. Claudia, we got to do the things that she taught us.

  6. My favorite panting was a panting made out of little dots. The artist panted it that way because he wanted our eyes to mix in the colors. For example just say he put a dot of RED and a dot of WHITE we would see it as pink thats why I was amazed by it.

  7. My favorite thing I saw was the glowing tunnel. It made me feel like I was in a dream. Because I had never seen something like that.It was glowing and the glowing made it feel like there were walls there but there were no walls there. I also enjoyed the Claud Monet panting at first it looked like a blob of colors. But when you step back you can see a bridge it looked amazing with all the colors.

  10. My favorite part was making pots even though my pot broke it was still fun making them! Today when I went threw the tunnel it was purple and blue when it was purple I felt really dizy and when it was blue it made me feel relaxed. I learned that if you dont smooth the legs of a pot when your making it it will fall off.

My favorite pice of art was a painting of one man watering plants and a sketch of another man watering plants but the second man wasn't colored case the artiest was in the middle of the painting when there was a war and he died before he finished the painting it is sad but interesting. My favorite thing that I sculpted was my pinch pot because it had a lot of detail and texture. All of it was fun and I hope we can do it agin. :)

  12. My favorite museum subject at MFAH was the Roman sculptures. In my first trip to the Glassell School of art I made a sculpture of a turtle. It was interesting because our mentor taught us two different ways to make it. Each way made a different looking turtle.
